Faith Training For Your Organisation
- Does your organisation deliver services to people of different faiths?
- Do you work in partnership with religious organisations?
- Are you an employer of a religiously diverse workforce?
- Are you unclear about the legislation relating to religion and belief and how this affects you?
- Do you want to start an inter-faith project and want some guidance?
- Are there religious tensions in your area of work which you want to reduce?
- Do you know whose hand you can shake and which days are religious holy days?
The Faith Communities Forum has already designed training for Waltham Forest Council and is now able to offer this to other groups.
Faith Equalities Training
Please find below the details for the Faith Equalities Training developed for Waltham Forest Council:
Next Date
| 1st July | ½ day course | Town Hall Committee room 3 | 9am to 12.30 |
The aim of the training is to equip service managers with the knowledge and confidence to better understand and engage with individuals from faith communities and to work in partnership with faith-based and faith-inspired organisations to meet these needs.
This session will support managers to meet the management standards relating to “our people” and “respecting diversity”. It will also help managers think about the implications for their service area of the forthcoming public duty on religion and belief.By the end of the session delegates will have;
- An overview of the faith communities in the borough, the role of faith in people’s lives and the social action projects and activities that are already being provided
- Discussed the forthcoming public sector duty on religion and belief, its link to faith-based equality and its relevance to policy-making and service delivery.
- Identified and generated solutions to the barriers that prevent managers from confidently and effectively engaging with people from faith communities and faith-based and faith-inspired organisations to understand the issues
- Identified and generated solutions to the barriers that prevent managers from procuring or commissioning work from faith-based and faith-inspired organisations as partners and service providers
- Information about contacts in the borough and other sources of further information and support
Results and Outcomes
As a result of the training it is expected that managers will create and encourage more engagement opportunities for people from faith communities as part of the service delivery and improvement process and, where relevant, will explore the potential for future partnerships and social action projects. This will result in people from faith communities expressing greater satisfaction with Council services and an increase in faith groups’ confidence in the Council.
Any Managers who feel this may assist them in delivering their services to faith groups.
