Islam Awareness Week - Sunday 15th - Saturday 21st November

Islam Awareness Week is an important event in Waltham Forest with events held across the borough to celebrate the contribution of the Muslims communities in Waltham Forest and to raise awarness of Islam to all citizens.

For 2009's event, Islam Awareness Week's theme is “living in our multi-faith society” and this coincides with the first Inter Faith Week. We recognise the importance of the long standing Islam Awareness Week in Waltham Forest and although there are several positive opportunities of this combined focus week we want to make sure Islam Awareness Week is not over shadowed and that activities planed for each event are complementary whereever possible.

The council have already started organising events in parentership with the Mosques and initial plans include religious open days and events to raise awareness in schools. Further details to be announced soon! Please contact Nazia, the councils Head of Cohesion & Partnerships at Nazia.Mirza@walthamforest.gov.uk to find out more.

If you are arranging events for Islam Awareness Week please email the details to Amy Willshire at Amy.Willshire@walthamforest.gov.uk so that they can appear on this page and so that it does not clash with other events being planned.
